Saturday or Sunday morning, the time has come ... Maarpräsenz! Volcanoes, the cinder cones and maars, or donkeys and goats, tower and church, fire and water, up and down. But what does all this have to do with each other?
Thousands of years ago, all hell broke loose on this very spot. The "battle of the elements" raged. The result: an unmistakable landscape. Here, this is the Maarsattel, the place between the Weinfelder and Schalkenmehrener Maar, and it is the geopark guides trained by the Volcano Eifel Nature and Geopark who will answer your questions right here. They will answer your questions about nature and geology, reveal why the goats are used as "living lawnmowers" and know the stories and legends about the Weinfelder Maar with the chapel. You don't know the right path yet, or need tips and ideas for further hikes or excursion destinations? The Geopark guides are the right people to talk to.
Do you need brochures for the surroundings of the natural beauty spots? No problem, we can provide that for you too. Maybe you just want to enjoy the peace and quiet? Let yourself go and you will succeed.
2023, the nature and geopark guides will be available for you from 20 May until the end of October every weekend from 11 am to 4 pm. Free of charge, but with great enthusiasm.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Maarsattel! On the map you can see exactly where to find us.
