The Eifel insider tip has long since become a much-visited leisure and holiday destination. The beautiful landscape and the well-developed network of cycle paths are attracting more and more people to this region.

There are a variety of family-friendly and easier bike tours on disused railway lines and along the rivers. Passionate and sporty cyclists reward themselves with a fantastic view after stretches with many climbs to the heights of the Eifel. The Vulkaneifel Trail Park delights mountain bike fans with its approximately 750 trails. Kilometer-long network of paths with an altitude of over 17,500 meters. From inns to bicycle rentals - in our region, which is certified by the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC), you can also rely on a wide range of bicycle tourism offerings.

We present 11 selected routes to you. Two of them - the Eifel Volcano Cycle Route and the Eifel-Ardennes Cycle Route - should only be attempted by experienced riders. All others are also suitable for occasional drivers and families. A tip are the themed cycle paths in the Eifel.


We also recommend the Children's Cycle Path:

Almost uphill and downhill sections of the Kyll and Maare-Mosel cycle path between Densborn and Bewingen as well as Daun and Gillenfeld . Here children meet Willi Basalt, Biggi Biene, Elli Eule and Freddi Fledermaus and learn a lot about nature, culture and history.

For those with sporting ambitions, there is also the VulkanBike Trailpark. Experience more than 750 kilometers and 17,500 meters of altitude in the unique Vulkaneifel. Some of the routes are signposted and well connected. From a leisurely ride on the bike in a friendly group to a sweaty race - the VulkanBike Trailpark has it all for you.

Kalkeifel Cycle Path

Railway Cycle Path

Without any major climbs, but with lots of windings, this rather shorter cycle path leads through the Ahbach valley over the watershed between the Ahr and Moselle catchment areas. About half of the route runs on a former railway line. The cycle path can be easily connected to the paths on the Ahr and Kyll.

Kosmos Cycle Path Kleine Kyll

Themed Trail

How big is the sun? How long is a light year? What happened at the Big Bang? These and other questions about our universe are answered by a tour on the Kleine Kyll cosmos cycle path! The infinite expanses of space come together on this cycle path in the length of a day's journey. Every meter traveled corresponds to 500,000 kilometers in the cosmic system!

Salm Cycle Path

Themed Trail

Cycling flying visit to the Moseleifel - along the river through meadow valleys and places steeped in history. The Salm winds its way from the Himmerod monastery to its mouth into the Moselle near Klüsserath almost exclusively through the Moseleifel area. The Salm cycle path creates a connection between the Maare-Mosel cycle path near Wittlich and the Moselle cycle path in Klüsserath.

Themed Trail

Cozy between meadows and fields - the slightly hilly landscape of the Wittlich depression attracts cyclists with wide views. The cycle path is an attractive connection through the Wittlicher Land between the Maare-Mosel cycle path from Wittlich to the Moselle cycle path to Trier.

Eifel Pilgrim Cycle Path

Themed Trail

The Eifel Pilgrim Cycle Path connects two important church buildings: the Cistercian monastery Himmerod and the Klausen pilgrimage church. It also leads past numerous old churches and lovingly restored wayside crosses and wayside shrines.

Mineral Sources Route

Theme Cycle Path

Without any major inclines, but with lots of windings, this cycle path leads through the Ahbach valley over the watershed between the Ahr and Moselle catchment areas. About half of the route runs on a former railway line. Particularly worth seeing are the constantly growing Dreimühlen waterfall, the crime town of Hillesheim (both can be reached via short climbs), Kerpen Castle and the Niederehe monastery. He is the link between  the Ahr cycle path and the Kyll cycle path.

Elztal Cycle Path

The Elztal cycle path leads from Gunderath (with a direct connection to CenterParcs Park Eifel) via Uersdfeld, Lirestal, Oberelz through the idyllic Elztal to Monreal and on to the Eifel town of Mayen. The cycle path is between Gunderath and Monreal due to its Topography and, above all, ideal for families due to the many offers.

Eifel Volcano Bike Route

This breath-taking tour with the climb to Nürburg and the rapid descent to Bad Bertrich is both fun and a challenge for ambitious cyclists. With a fresh wind on your neck, you can explore the Ulmener Maar, the youngest of the Eifel maars, and enjoy endless expanses of cultivated fields, meadows and forests. From the Lutzerather Höhe the final descent leads to the health resort of Bad Bertrich with the only Glauber's salt spa in Germany.

Eifel-ArdennenCycle Path: St. Vith - Nürburgring

Cycle Trail

The Eifel-Ardennes cycle path from St. Vith in Belgium to the Nürburgring connects the Belgian Ardennes with the Eifel. In the western half between St. Vith and Prüm, the route runs almost entirely on former railway lines. Here, undulating plateaus dominate the landscape. From Prüm, deep cuts and steep climbs characterize the eastern half of the route via Gerolstein, Daun and to the Nürburghöhen. The route from Prüm - Daun runs partly over unpaved paths, here it's a sporty and demanding affair.
