Mirbach Chapel Of The Redeemer
The Mirbach Redeemer Chapel was built in 1902/1903 in the neo-Romanesque style. The donors included, above all, Emperor Wilhelm II, Empress Augusta Victoria, the Baron von Mirbach, the Evangelical Church Building Association of Berlin, numerous members of the nobility and some artists.
What is remarkable about this building is the elaborate cladding and decoration of the brick foundation walls. The outer facade is clad in tuff and basalt. Stained glass windows decorated with coats of arms allow light into the Chapel of the Redeemer, which illuminates the golden mosaics in the vault and choir. The altar made of white sandstone is a donation from the imperial couple, the organ carried by four angels is a donation from the court organ builder Sauer from Frankfurt an der Oder.
