Dietzenley

Eifel View Dietzenley 54568 Gerolstein

The Eifel view Dietzenley is characterized by a viewing tower from which you can enjoy an impressive view of the landscape of the Vulkaneifel.

During volcanic activity around 600,000 years ago, the area around Dietzenley was covered with volcanic rock. Over the centuries, this rock weathered to become productive soil. Around 2,500 years ago there was a Celtic residential settlement with pastures on the Dietzenley. The Celts built ring walls from the basaltic volcanic rock. These ramparts were about nine meters high and four meters wide and protected the Celtic settlement against attacks.
